Job Opportunity at Can SOLVE-CKD Network: Patient Partnerships and Capacity Building Manager

The Can-SOLVE CKD Network is Canada’s largest-ever kidney research initiative. It is a national partnership of patients, researchers, health care providers, and policy-makers working to transform treatment and care for Canadians affected by chronic kidney disease. The network is changing the culture of kidney research by coordinating and conducting 27 innovative projects shaped by patients’ experiences and priorities. It is also creating resources and national infrastructure that enhance Canada’s ability to lead innovative kidney health research.

Can-SOLVE CKD comprises more than 450 research team members and more than 40 patient partners across Canada. This large, multi-disciplinary team is supported by a core operations team that oversees the day-to-day work of all research projects, committees, and workgroups, ensuring that the network’s key deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.

The Patient Partnerships & Capacity Building Manager is responsible for patient partnership activities within the Can-SOLVE CKD, enabling and ensuring the patient voice is woven into all aspects of the network.

Key activities include:
  • Provide expertise in patient partnerships with excellent knowledge of the national and international landscape for patient engagement in research, e.g. SPOR (Canada), PCORI (US), INVOLVE (UK) etc.;
  • Provide leadership and support to the Patient Governance Circle (PGC), a governance body of the Can-SOLVE CKD network;
  • Coordinates recruitment and onboarding of patient partners to Can-SOLVE CKD structures, including the PGC, National Patient Network, working groups, research project teams, and other components within the Network;
  • Work with PGC members to plan and organize meetings, ensures documents such as Terms of Reference etc. are kept current and reviewed on an annual basis.
