2023-2025 WIT Fellowship Grants and Inaugural LMIC Fellowship Grant for Research in Gender and Sex in Transplantation

The Women in Transplantation (WIT) initiative of The Transplantation Society (TTS) is happy to launch two research fellowship grant initiatives:

  • The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grants

  • The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grant for low and middle income countries (LMIC)

The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grants

The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grants will fund research that contributes to the understanding of the impact of sex and gender issues in solid organ transplantation and immunology. The spectrum of studies includes basic, clinical and translational.

  • The grant provides research support for two years at $25,000 US per year.
  • Research must commence on July 1, 2023 and conclude on June 30, 2025.
  • The research start date cannot be deferred for any reason.
The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grant for LMIC

The 2023 WIT Research Fellowship Grant for LMIC will provide funding to an individual investigator to support research in sex and gender issues in solid organ transplantation and immunology. The spectrum of studies includes basic, clinical and translational. This individual must work in a low or middle income country as defined by the OECD.

  • The grant provides research support for up to $30,000 USD per grant
  • Research must commence on July 1, 2023 and conclude on June 30, 2025.
  • The research start date cannot be deferred for any reason.
Important Dates and Review Process
  • Completed Proposals are due by April 1, 2023.
  • Funding decisions will be made by an expert review committee from the WIT peer members. Grants will be scored based on novelty, research approach, feasibility of obtaining relevant data, prior work, and engagement of the mentor.
  • All applicants will be notified of final decision in May 2023.
