Next Ten Years of Transforming Lives Grant Development Program

Matched-funding support available for 2026 large-scale grant submissions

As many of you plan your next major grant submissions for 2026, we are pleased to share a matched-funding program designed to help strengthen your application.

The Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program (CDTRP), in collaboration with Ontario Health Trillium Gift of Life Network and The Kidney Foundation of Canada, is offering our community access to grant development support through The Next Ten Years of Transforming Lives Program.

This program offers:

  • $50,000 in matching funds for proposals requesting two million dollars or above.
  • Up to $15,000 in staff time for strategic planning, administrative coordination, and grant development.
  • Up to $1,000 in compensation for Patient, Family, and Donor partners who contribute to the grant development phase
  • Access to CDTRP’s research and patient networks to strengthen team composition and project competitiveness

This program supports research teams in pursuing large-scale, high-impact projects and provides the tools and resources needed to develop competitive, patient-centered proposals that advance our shared goals to improve outcomes for patients, families, and donors. The program is already demonstrating impact. Earlier this year, Dr. Mamatha Bhat’s Team Liver AI project secured two million dollars in CIHR funding, with support from this program.

The Next ten years of Transforming Lives program was instrumental in helping in our successful CIHR Team grant application, given the critical resource it provided for grant development and strategic planning. My sincere thanks to CDTRP for your support – I will be glad to continue our important work to reduce disparities and optimize outcomes for liver transplant recipients!”
