The CDTRP is pleased to collaborate with the Canadian Society of Transplantation (CST) to strengthen clinical trial capacity in donation and transplantation research through joint sessions at our respective scientific meetings in October and December, as well as aa plain-language abstract competition reviewed by CDTRP patient, family, and donor (PFD) partners.

In addition, CDTRP staff will present posters highlighting their ongoing research and initiatives that support national collaboration and meaningful PFD engagement.

Strengthening Capacity for Clinical Trials Across Canada

CDTRP and CST are collaborating on a two-part session series led by Dr. Ruth Sapir-Pichhadze and Dr. Frédérick D’Aragon through the CDTRP Clinical Trials Group and CST Research Committee. Through these initiatives, CDTRP and CST are working together to strengthen research capacity for randomized control trials, foster collaboration, and support more meaningful engagement across Canada’s donation and transplantation research community.

Part 1, entitled “Enhancing the Capacity for Randomized Controlled Trials in Donation and Transplantation in Canada,” will be held at the CST meeting on October 28, 7:00 PM EST. The session will present findings from a national survey exploring current clinical trial infrastructure, resources, and barriers across Canadian programs.

Part 2 will continue the discussion at the CDTRP Scientific Meeting on December 2, from 9:00 AM MST and focus on capacity-building priorities and opportunities for national collaboration. This session will be hybrid, and you can register for the CDTRP meeting using this link: https://groupize.com/gz/app/e/cdtrp-2026-scientific-meeting-from-bench-to-business-workshop-7a4487

Attendees are invited to join one or both sessions and explore opportunities to contribute to solid organ transplantation

Supporting Meaningful PFD Engagement

As part of the collaboration, CDTRP PFD partners will review a plain-language abstract competition at the CST Annual Scientific Meeting. Through their reviews, PFD partners help assess how clearly and accessibly research findings are communicated to the communities they aim to serve.
