Background information
The KRESCENT program will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025 and continues to have a major impact on kidney research scientist training and capacity building in Canada. Launched by The Kidney Foundation of Canada, CIHR-INMD and the Canadian Society of Nephrology in 2005 with the goal to train the next generation of kidney scientists. KRESCENT has been successful at supporting trainees at the postdoctoral and early career researcher levels and more recently has launched new training programs at the undergraduate level.
Since its inception, the KRESCENT program has been blessed with strong, engaged leadership, most recently through the guidance of Dr Todd Alexander, who has been in the KRESCENT Director Role since 2018.
Dr. Alexander is now stepping down from his role, and the program is in search of novel leadership. It is with mixed emotions that we see Dr. Alexander move forward from his role at KRESCENT, but this also represents a time to allow for new, dynamic and engaged leadership from the Kidney Community.
