Please join us in an exciting series of artist talks and salons focused on representations and experiences in transplantation, hosted through the Tangled Art + Disability gallery in Toronto, Ontario.
Tangled Art + Disability is dedicated to connecting professional and emerging artists, the arts community, and a diverse public through creative passion and artistic excellence. Our mission is to support Disabled, d/Deaf, chronically ill, neurodiverse, k/crip, Mad, sick & spoonie artists; to cultivate Disability Arts in Canada; and to increase opportunities for everyone to participate in the arts.

Brian Keely (with collaborating artist Bibo Keeley) will discuss his critical care and heart transplant experience, looking to the ways in which he has used his own artistic practice to explore what might be limited or missing within cultural representations of heart transplant that are offered outside of lived experience.

Multidisciplinary Artist Salon & Roundtable on Representation, Visual Culture & Multimodality in Transplant
Hybrid Virtual & In-Person Evening Roundtable

Featuring visual art work, film & photography by Frictions of Futurity in Transplant Medicine artist in Residence Fraser Allen Best, in conversation with cinematographer Aaron Munson and sound artist Jonathan Kawchuck, filmmakers affiliated with the NFB film, Memento Mori (#TransplantDoc) and artist Brian Keeley, and Frictions project team members Mary Bunch and Brad Necyk. The salon will explore the unexpected, sensorial, bodymind experiences of transplantation and the entanglement of ethics and aesthetics in bringing forward these experiences to a wider public audience.
