Welcome new CDTRP Research Services Manager: Manoela de Paula Ferreira
The CDTRP is happy to announce the appointment of Manoela de Paula Ferreira as the Research Services Manager. With an impressive background in research and a passion for rehabilitation science, Manoela brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the team. In 2022, she completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto (U of T), where she collaborated with Dr. Sunita Mathur on a study exploring sarcopenia and frailty in solid organ transplant patients. Following this, Manoela joined Dr. Lisa Wickerson’s team at U of T as a research coordinator, focusing on Telerehabilitation and Lung Transplantation. Her dedication to improving the lives of individuals with chronic diseases is evident in her commitment to exercise optimization. In addition to her role at CDTRP, Manoela will lend her expertise to the Accelerating Clinical Trials Consortium, contributing to the advancement of clinical trials. We are thrilled to have Manoela join us on this exciting journey of research and innovation!
About Manoela de Paula Ferreira
Manoela (BScPT, B Dance, MScPE, PhD) is a Brazilian-Canadian Physiotherapist and retired Dancer. She has a Ph.D. in Physical Education from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) – Brazil, where she studied the effects of a home-based dance exercise program on people with Parkinson’s Disease. In 2022, Manoela completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Toronto (U of T) – Canada, where, working with Dr. Sunita Mathur, she was introduced to solid organ transplant, investigating levels of sarcopenia and frailty before and after transplantation. Late in 2022, Manoela was hired as a research coordinator for Dr. Lisa Wickerson at the U of T, where Telerehabilitation and Lung Transplantation were broadly investigated. Manoela is very interested in rehabilitation science and exercise optimization for people with chronic diseases.
