Need Support Developing Your 2025 Innovation Grant Patient Engagement Plan?
Our Patient, Family, and Donor (PFD) Partnerships Platform is here to help!
Engaging PFD partners early in your research ensures your project aligns with patient priorities and leads to better patient outcomes. While the level of engagement will vary based on your project’s scope and design, all applicants must demonstrate how their research addresses a patient priority and outline the significance, feasibility, and integration of PFD engagement.
CDTRP’s PFD Terms of Reference emphasize that patient engagement is a meaningful, active collaboration between researchers and PFDs in governance, priority setting, research activities, and knowledge translation. Thoughtful engagement should also be grounded in inclusiveness, support, mutual respect, and co-building.
