Profile de Nouvelle Membre: Dr. Dervla Connaughton, n\u00e9phrologue et directrice m\u00e9dicale du programme de transplantation r\u00e9nale avec donneur vivant \u00e0 London Health Sciences Centre<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Nous sommes heureux d\u2019accueillir au sein du Programme de recherche en don et transplantation du Canada (PRDTC) de nouveaux membres de divers domaines qui se joindront \u00e0 notre communaut\u00e9 de chercheurs, de cliniciens, de patients, de familles, de donneurs et de stagiaires qui se consacrent \u00e0 l\u2019am\u00e9lioration de la vie des donneurs et des receveurs d\u2019organes. En tant que nouveau membre, les gens sont un \u00e9l\u00e9ment essentiel de notre mission qui consiste \u00e0 faire progresser la science du don et de la transplantation et \u00e0 \u00e9laborer des approches novatrices fond\u00e9es sur des donn\u00e9es probantes afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer les r\u00e9sultats pour les patients au Canada et dans le monde entier.<\/p>\n

Nous sommes ravis que la Dre Dervla Connaughton<\/strong>\u00a0se joigne au\u00a0Th\u00e8me 2 du PRDTC<\/a> \u2013 Informer sur les pratiques universelles en mati\u00e8re de don, en tant que nouveau chercheur. La Dre Connaughton est n\u00e9phrologue et directrice m\u00e9dicale du programme de transplantation r\u00e9nale avec donneur vivant \u00e0 London Health Sciences Centre, ainsi que cheffe clinique du groupe d’experts en g\u00e9n\u00e9tique r\u00e9nale d’Ontario Health.<\/p>\n

What are your fields of expertise and interests in research?<\/strong><\/h6>\n
\n

I am a nephrologist with a specialization in medical genetics. I am the medical director of the living kidney donor transplant program at London Health Sciences Centre and am the Ontario Health Clinical Lead of the Renal Genetics Expert group. My research focuses on the implementation and impact of genomic testing in chronic kidney disease and kidney transplantation. I am particularly interested in how genetics can improve diagnostic accuracy, guide treatment, and enhance donor and recipient safety. My passion is to bring answers to families who have been affected by genetics kidney disease.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

What new areas of interest would you like to develop or with which different disciplines or specialist(s) would you like to collaborate within the CDTRP?<\/strong><\/h6>\n
\n
I would love to collaborate with implementation scientists, health economists, and digital health innovators to explore novel approaches for mainstreaming genomic testing in nephrology and transplantation. I’m especially interested in knowledge mobilization strategies that engage patients, families, and non-genetics clinicians in meaningful ways.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n

I’m originally from a rural town in County Roscommon, Ireland\u2014which holds the record for the highest life expectancy in the country. I like to think it\u2019s all the fresh air, strong tea, and stubborn optimism.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>
