Nous sommes fiers de pr\u00e9senter tous les projets innovants qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9s dans le cadre du concours de cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Nous tenons \u00e0 f\u00e9liciter chaleureusement le\u00a0<strong>Dr Fr\u00e9d\u00e9rick D&rsquo;Aragon<\/strong>\u00a0et son \u00e9quipe pour avoir re\u00e7u la\u00a0<strong>bourse<\/strong> <strong>d&rsquo;innovation en recherche PRDTC<\/strong>. Nous leur souhaitons tout le succ\u00e8s possible dans la r\u00e9alisation de leur projet novateur !<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9tude novatrice CINERGY a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 l&rsquo;extraordinaire complexit\u00e9 de la recherche sur les interventions chez le donneur dans le but d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer les r\u00e9sultats pour les receveurs de greffes. Patients often require a transplant to save their lives, unfortunately, there is a growing gap between the number of donors and the number awaiting transplantation. In 2021, 4043 Canadians were on the wait-list, and 248 died waiting. While the rate of organs from deceased donors is increasing, the living donor rate decreases. One way to improve the rate and success of organ transplants is to improve deceased organ donor care. Once brain dead, physical reactions including swelling can be harmful to the organs being considered for transplant, affecting how well the transplant \u201ctakes\u201d or survives within the recipient. Survival rates have improved over the years because of routine use of drugs that suppress the immune system and prevent rejection. Our team has initiated a small study to investigate the use of one of these commonly used medications (tacrolimus) in deceased donors to see if it is possible to obtain the information needed to prove that use of this drug during deceased donor management is beneficial for organ recipients in a larger study. While underway in Qu\u00e9bec, we now plan to add two centres in British Columbia to test study feasibility, a revised recipient consent process, and report on provincial differences.
