Nous sommes fiers de pr\u00e9senter tous les projets innovants qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 financ\u00e9s dans le cadre du concours de cette ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p>Nous tenons \u00e0 f\u00e9liciter chaleureusement la <strong>Dr Murdoch Leeies<\/strong>\u00a0et son \u00e9quipe pour avoir re\u00e7u la <strong>bourse d&rsquo;innovation en recherche PRDTC KFOC<\/strong>. Nous leur souhaitons tout le succ\u00e8s possible dans la r\u00e9alisation de leur projet novateur !<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-top:30px;margin-bottom:30px;width:100%;\"><div class=\"fusion-separator-border sep-double sep-solid\" style=\"--awb-height:20px;--awb-amount:20px;border-color:#e0dede;border-top-width:1px;border-bottom-width:1px;\"><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><h5 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 &#091;&#093;\" data-fontsize=\"24\" data-lineheight=\"36px\"><strong>Bourse d&rsquo;innovation en recherche PRDTC KFOC : Dr Murdoch Leeies<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 &#091;&#093;\"><em><strong>Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity in Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (OTDT) A curriculum in cultural competency for OTDT healthcare teams in Canada\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Affiliation principale :<\/strong> Universit\u00e9 du Manitoba<\/li>\n<li><strong>Th\u00e8me 1<\/strong> &#8211; Am\u00e9liorer la culture du don<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><strong>R\u00e9sum\u00e9 (en anglais)<\/strong><\/h6>\n<blockquote>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 &#091;&#093;\">We already know that sexual and gender minorities (including Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer plus (2S\/LGBTQ+) persons) face discrimination and barriers to fair care in the organ and tissue donation and transplantation (OTDT) health system.\u00a0 Existing policies that limit donation of organs and tissues for these persons date back to the 1980\u2019s in reaction to the HIV epidemic.\u00a0 These policies discriminate based on sexual orientation and gender identity rather than on behaviors that make people more likely to contract or pass on HIV or other infections. We now know of many possible harms and examples of unequal treatment for 2S\/LGBTQ+ people in the OTDT system. One major problem is that healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, and others) and 2S\/LGBTQ+ patients both feel that healthcare workers do not get enough training in the healthcare needs or cultural needs of 2S\/LGBTQ+ patients. To address this gap in care we are making an educational program to train healthcare workers so that they can become knowledgeable about 2S\/LGBTQ+ issues in OTDT.\u00a0 To make sure this program reflects the needs of 2S\/LGBTQ+ patients and healthcare workers we have planned to team up with both groups in the OTDT health system so that we can work together to educate healthcare workers across Canada in 2S\/LGBTQ+ issues and to improve their ability to provide compassionate care.
