the age of 14, and her second liver transplant at the age of 27. Throughout her youth and adult life Shelby has been heavily involved in the transplant community as a mentor and volunteer and has been a two-time participant and multiple medal winner in the Canadian Transplant Games. Having undergone a heart transplant as a teenager due to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW111029303 BCX0\">congenital heart disease<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW111029303 BCX0\">,\u202fKristi\u202fis acutely aware of the role research plays in improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life.
