CDTRP is proud to recognize this month by highlighting the voices and perspectives of African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) communities within donation and transplantation research.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">In 2024, CDTRP Executive Director Dr. Patricia Gongal, Dr. Istvan Mucsi, Dr. Jacqueline Getfield, Dr. Carl James and Charles Cook were recipients of a CIHR Planning Grant, \u201cBuilding Partnerships with the African, Caribbean, and Black Communities to Address Health Inequities related to COVID-19 in Transplantation.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With funding from this grant, CDTRP co-hosted a webinar series entitled \u201cConversations about Health in Black Communities\u201d with <\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">The Caribbean African Regenerative Medicine (CARM) Project. <\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"none\">This 4-part webinar series, facilitated by Dr. Jacqueline Getfield (Project Manager, CARM), invited 6 patient, family and donor (PFD) partners and 4 medical doctors to share perspectives of the experience navigating organ-based disease, failure, and the pre-and post-transplant process.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">With over 370 participants in attendance, the series created space for meaningful dialogue around the intersections of race, family history, socioeconomic status, culture, immigration and systemic bias within healthcare\u2014issues that continue to shape transplant experiences of Black communities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=1lV_uGDqAC4&amp;list=PLhBJGRs7ZhR8iDqR4ggm9U2VcaKi3WvXK\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Watch the full webinar series on YouTube<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to learn directly from community members, clinicians, and researchers, and deepen your understanding of health equity in transplantation.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Join the conversation beyond the webinar<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> by following <a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/cdtrp\"><strong>CDTRP<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/linktr.ee\/CARMNETWORK?utm_source=linktree_profile_share&amp;ltsid=46d3260f-1d55-4530-8721-f724c2d2cd9a\">CARM<\/a><\/strong> on social media, sharing the series with your networks, and amplifying ACB voices in donation and transplantation research and policy.
