We are proud to showcase all of the exciting projects that have been funded in this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to <strong>Dr. Kathryn Armstrong<\/strong> and her team for being awarded the <strong>Transplant Research Foundation of BC\/CDTRP Venture Grant<\/strong>. Despite its known importance, participation is low in these children. Over the last few years, we have tried different ways to address physical inactivity in our SOT population. We started with text messaging to offer support. We then did a virtual home exercise program that could be modified for each patient. Most recently, we offered our patients the chance to try to increase their activity using a virtual reality headset. Participation in these studies has been low which is likely due to a variety of reasons. We want to understand these reasons. We would like to: (1) Create a patient-parent advisory committee (PPAC) to help guide our next steps; (2) Work with the PPAC to create a \u2018Knowledge Exchange Day (KED)\u2019 in which we can exchange knowledge about physical activity; (3) Use the KED to collect data from surveys and focus groups so that we can better understand the challenges our families face. This study allows us to learn from our patients, to help change how we talk about physical activity, to increase support for those who find it difficult to be active and to generate new ideas from the knowledge that we gain.
